About Tulum Cenotes

Why this site exists

Cenote pricing is the least documented part of a Tulum trip. Two parks publish a full tariff online; the rest take cash at a window and change the number without telling anyone, which is why guides written eighteen months ago quote prices that no longer exist.

The second gap is what a tour actually includes. A $26 coach seat that collects US$40 per adult at the door is not a $26 tour, and a $24 park pass that undercuts the same park's own gate package is not the tourist tax people assume it is. Both facts are printed on operators' own pages; neither is printed anywhere a traveller reads before booking. So they are written down here.

How the comparison is built

Every field on a tour page — price, rating, review count, duration, group size, pickup, what the listing includes and what it collects on the day, cancellation terms, minimum age — is read off the operator's live listing and stamped with the month it was read. Where a listing is silent, the page says so rather than filling the gap with a guess.

Gate tariffs come from the parks themselves: the Parque Dos Ojos booking catalogue and the Cenotes Casa Tortuga package page, both read in September 2026 and quoted with their figures intact. Where no park publishes a price, the page says that too, and reports a range attributed to recent visitors rather than a single confident number.

Rainfall figures are the Open-Meteo ERA5 reanalysis for 20.21 N, 87.47 W across 1995 to 2024. Currency conversions use the rate on the day they were written, and the rate is named.

What we do not do

We compare tour listings, official visitor information and recent traveller feedback. We do not operate or personally conduct these tours.

There is no invented author persona here, no claim that anyone on this site swam a particular cenote last Tuesday, and no photograph presented as our own. What there is instead is a date on every fact and a named source for anything that did not come from the listing.

Reviews

Quoted reviews are real, dated and verified bookings taken from the platform's own listing for the tour they describe, shown in excerpt. Ratings and review counts are the operator's own numbers, reproduced as they stood on the date given.

Critical detail that travellers report — fees collected on the day, food sold at a captive price, a cenote that turns out to be a 45-minute stop rather than the point of the day — is written into the guide text with the practical advice attached, rather than displayed as a quotation.

How the site earns

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you book through one, the platform may pay a commission at no extra cost to you. It does not change which tours appear here, the order they appear in, or what is written about them — the affiliate disclosure sets out the arrangement in full.

We do not take payments, hold reservations or act for any operator. Anything to do with a booking belongs with the company named on your confirmation.

Corrections

Prices in Mexico move faster than any page can. If a figure here is out of date, tell us and it will be corrected with a new check date rather than quietly edited.
